Several methods can be used to treat the skin of the face to remove or improve wrinkles, age spots and some scars.
Glycolic Acid Peels:
Glycolic acid is a natural fruit acid that works by gently exfoliating the skin’s surface to produce skin with a younger, smoother look. The treatment is effective in helping to reduce fine lines and uneven pigmentation. Glycolic peels may be used by younger patients as part of a preventive skin care maintenance program against aging and sun damage.
Medium Peels:
These go deeper than glycolic peels and therefore, can give more significant results. Recovery time for this procedure is several days.
Microdermabrasion:
Microdermabrasion is an office treatment that gently abrades the skin to make it smoother and softer. It can also help to reduce fine lines and age spots. There is no recovery time needed.
Laser Resurfacing is a deeper method to improve the skin. (Please see under Surgical Procedures)
