Laser skin resurfacing is a deeper method to affect the skin. It is used in the treatment of wrinkles and other superficial skin conditions such as sun-damaged spots. It can also be appropriate in improving acne scarring.
The procedure can be very beneficial, but does not accomplish the same effect as does surgery, and therefore, is not a replacement. The laser is often used in place of dermabrasion or chemical peels.
