Lipodystrophy is a condition which can result in loss of fat (lipoatrophy) in areas of the face and accumulation of fat (lipohypertrophy) around the neck and upper back. Several procedures can be done to treat these problems.
Neck & Upper Back:
Ultrasonic liposuction can be used to reduce areas of fat in the neck and upper back areas. (The build up of fat in the upper back is commonly referred to as a buffalo hump). Rarely, direct surgical excision is needed.
